Some questions pertaining to the Cleaning
Diva's Thoughts about Cleaning
[and some other stuff]:

What is your least favorite thing to clean?
Easy! ...Putting the clean dishes away.  I shudder everytime I open up
the dishwasher to find them sitting there~ All clean and shiny like.  I find
it very unsatisfying and boring to put them away.  I'm pretty sure it's
because with the dishwasher door closed, it's not like the dishes are in
my face.  I don't even see them.  And when they're put away, I don't see
them.  So it's just one of those things that gives me little enjoyment.

INSIDE OF MICROWAVES... something about nuked, caked-on food
that gives me the heebie jeebies.
No worries, though... just  because I don't LIKE to clean the inside of
microwaves doesn't mean I will not.

WINDOWS.  But mostly only in the summertime.  I don't like being hot.
So when I'm outside wiping down the glass sliders, if you listen closely
enough, you might hear some under the breath mumbling and
grumbling.  But not so much about how dirty the glass is, but rather,
how hot it is at that very moment.

COBWEBS.  Because spiders freak me out.  Little ones... big
ones.  I get very creeped out when the web comes in contact with me
and I'm certain that, even if I didn't see a spider anywhere, it is now on
me.  And it's huge.

I'm sorry... what was the question?  What is my least favorite thing?
Thing... as in ONE thing?  Well... at least I'm honest!!!

Okay, how about your favorite thing to clean?
Ooooohhhh... I love polishing away water spots. Wiping away water
spots and making the faucets pretty and shiny
"completes me".

I also like making beds.  To me, there is no point in having a clean
bedroom if the bed is unmade.  Anyone who knows me or who has
gotten to know me since I started this business knows that I get
completely frazzled if a bed is unmade.  Once, I tried leaving my own
bed unmade while I worked that day and it was all I could think about.
When I got home, I made it.  Even though I crawled into it 3 hours later
to go to sleep.

With the exception of the aforementioned microwave and clean dishes
in the dishwasher, I love cleaning kitchens.  It's the heart of the home.
I'm a foodie... I love cooking... baking... eating.... I love my kitchen.  If
you love yours, too... I will happily clean it with a smile on my face.  I
may even stay for dinner!

How do you feel about cleaning toilets?
Well, what can I say about this, really?  PROS: it really doesn't take
much time in the grand scheme of things  CONS:  It's a toilet.

Do you dust first or vaccum first?
Top to bottom is the rule of thumb.  But no matter which way one does
it,  it's never right, is it?!  I typically dust, vacuum, then do another light
dusting
*sigh*

Do you have a cleaning diva yourself?
Wouldn't that be wonderful?!  A cleaning lady who has a cleaning lady!
How lucky am I that I get to clean my own home for free when others
have to pay me for the same job?!
Actually, I will be considering it over time.
Do you know of any good cleaning people?

Why start your own cleaning business when there are lots of
other cleaning companies?
The bottom line is-- it's cleaning... not rocket science.  This is exactly
why I started my own business rather than go work for someone else. I
didn't need to be told "HOW" to clean or how long I was allowed to take
at each job.   I've been following my own children & pets [and husband]
with moist towlettes and a broom seven days a week for 13 years now.
That is the best experience there is!

I wanted to be able to make my own schedule so if I take on a house
that I know is going to take me 4 hours to clean, I don't have to rush
through it because I have two more houses to clean that day because
that's what is on the schedule.  I customize my schedule based on what
I know I need to do and I'm very good at knowing just how much time I'll
need to do a thorough job.

And now I have someone to work with me so I can take on more
without sacrificing the clean.  I'm not looking to rule the cleaning world.
I'm not looking to have a team of 30.  I simply want to do what I do and
make someone get excited about cleaning day because they know they
will come home to a fresh, clean house.

Any Cleaning Tips for Us?
If you have a dull, white sink-- sprinkle some salt in it... take that old
lemon that is on its last legs in your fridge... cut it in half and scrub the
salted sink with it.

White Vinegar, Lemons, Salt... these are some things that can be your
best friend.

So, a diva is someone who sings-
do you sing while you clean?
I can't subject myself to that, let alone anyone else, if they're home.  I
do have my iPod on- but I'll leave the singing to the professionals.
Clive Davis won't be knocking on my door anytime soon-- unless he
wants me to clean his house.

The term "diva" was originally used to describe a woman of rare,
outstanding talent.  It is also associated with someone who is arrogant,
fussy and difficult to work with.  I'm only difficult to work with if I've left
my own bed unmade.  And we all know that that will never happen
again.

Help yourself to any drinks and liquor in our cabinet:
Oh gosh.  No thank you!  I'll just stick to my water and Gatorade.
I need to maintain my electrolytes, not dance around with a bucket on
my head and shoes made of toilet paper.
[NOT a true story.  Well, not MY true story anyway]

So.... don't drink, don't smoke, what do you do?
WHOA THERE NELLY!  I never said I didn't drink.  I just don't drink
while on the job.  One of my favorite things in the world is to indulge in
a tasty glass of wine... my current favorite being from the bottle of
Chateau Haut Gravet Red Bordeaux, 2005....  At home.  When the kids
are in bed.   Just me and my wine.  Alone with my shiny faucets.

Do you Have References?
Of course!

You can use my husband as a reference!  I say this because he said
one of the nicest things to me one day out of the blue.

No,
it wasn't how my eyes shone like the sun or that he noticed my new
haircut and how each delicate layer framed my face oh so beautifully.
He actually took the time to tell me how much he appreciates what I do
around the house and he brought to my attention that even on my day
off, I'm always cleaning and that coming home to a comfy, clean home
doesn't go unnoticed.

Who needs flowers and diamonds when you have a man at home who
takes time to notice that there isn't a layer of dust on the TV with the
words "clean me" wiped away by fingertips and that the sink is
awesomely white.

Now now....... ladies stand back.  He's not all romantic talk and
perfection!  He also dries his hands by vigorously shaking them over
my just polished, waterspot-free zone.

Psst... I have bona fide references, too.  From people who I don't live
with and who have not seen me before I've brushed my teeth.

Out of curiosity, what is your favorite scent?
Oh, so many.  I'm a lavender lover.  My favorite, right now, however is
one I just recently discovered.  Unfortunately, it doesn't come as a
cleaner, but rather as an air freshner (a spray and a plug in).  It's from
Method Products and it's called "Fig".  I've thought about using it as a
body spray because I just LOVE it.  I haven't yet sprayed it directly on
my wrists, but I do spray it and then walk through the mist like '"oops... I
didn't mean to get that on me!"

The smell reminds me of Christmas.  Only without the pine and spice
smells but rather a very light, delicate smell.  It's like maybe what a
Florida winter should smell like naturally... i mean, if Florida actually
had a winter and if we didn't have to create a fresh, wintery smell by
spraying pretend scent into the air.
Yeah... this is me-  Wearing
a cool t-shirt,
contemplating these
questions...
.
I also work alone, so I don't need to worry about what someone else is or is not doing.
